Syncing AWS access requests between P0 and ServiceNow

If your AWS access approvals live in ServiceNow—but provisioning happens somewhere else—this walkthrough is for you.

This episode of the Five minutes to zero standing access series shows how P0 syncs ServiceNow tickets with real-time access control, enabling seamless just-in-time access and full auditability across both systems.

Access approvals often live in silos. Security teams use one tool. Developers use another. And IT manages tickets in ServiceNow that never quite sync with what’s actually happening in the cloud.

That fragmentation slows everyone down - and makes it hard to trace who approved what, when, or why.

With P0, you don’t have to choose between speed and governance. Our new ServiceNow integration keeps both systems in sync - so requests, approvals, and access provisioning happen automatically, no matter where they start.

What the integration enables

P0’s integration with ServiceNow supports bidirectional workflows for temporary AWS access. That means:

  • End users can request access from either ServiceNow or P0
  • Approvers can act in either system - and the decision syncs instantly
  • Provisioning happens automatically through P0’s automated JIT provisioning flow, with full traceability in both platforms

How it works

The video walkthrough shows both sides of the integration in action:

  1. A user submits a Cloud Access Request form in ServiceNow - specifying the AWS account and permission set they need.
  2. A ServiceNow automation flow kicks in, calling the P0 API to create a mirrored request object inside P0.
  3. P0 notifies approvers in Slack (or any configured channel), with a link to the mirrored request.
  4. The approver can:
    • Approve inside P0 → which updates the ServiceNow record, or
    • Approve inside ServiceNow → which triggers P0 to fulfill the request.
  5. Once approved, P0 provisions access through its temporary access provisioning system.
  6. The user receives confirmation and can access AWS using the Identity Center start page or CLI.

Why this matters

Access workflows shouldn’t force users and admins into separate systems with duplicated effort and unclear status.

With this integration:

  • Users request access wherever they already work
  • Approvers stay in control - with synchronized visibility
  • Security teams get a full audit trail across both P0 and ServiceNow

No rework. No lag. No confusion about who has access or whether it was properly granted.

Ready to streamline access governance?

This is just one of many ways P0 plugs into your existing identity and IT stack - to bring modern, automated access governance to environments that still rely on ticket-based workflows.
